Property
The 1,033-square-foot space is flanked with balconies on both sides that let in ample sunlight throughout the day. “I’m right above the trees, so I always see the parrots flying by,” Vic says. She also got really lucky with the design of the home, which dates back to 1915 and boasts tall vaulted Catalan-style ceilings with exposed brick and beams.
Vision
My vision for my Barcelona apartment was to merge warmth with industrial design. I wanted a space that feels both inspiring and functional, so I combined cozy, plump furniture with sleek, industrial elements. The goal was to create an airy, sunlit environment that supports my creativity and also serves as a relaxing retreat. The mix of vintage and modern pieces helps me balance work and comfort effortlessly.

The Property
The apartment is located in Victoria BC’s historic Chinatown. The building was built in 1908 and has an interesting history. My unit is a one-bedroom work/live loft featuring concrete floors and walls, exposed reclaimed cedar beams and flooring in the loft, and views of the inlet.
Vision for the project
My vision for my Victoria loft was to blend Postmodern design with Japanese principles, creating a space that's both inspiring and functional. I wanted a home that balances work and relaxation, using unique and functional pieces while supporting Canadian artists and vintage finds. The result is a harmonious environment with warm lighting that enhances both productivity and comfort.
